CURRICULUM VITAE

June 2019 - Present

While working on her master's degree, Madeleine received a graduate research assistantship through the horticulture department. She is currently working with Dr. Bert Cregg, Dr. Robert Schutzki and the Michigan Department of Transportation to research shrub and perennial establishment along urban freeways. Madeleine is responsible for collecting data for her thesis research, maintaining research plots along I-696 near Detroit, and reporting results to MDOT.

April 2017-May 2019

Madeleine was responsible for maintaining arboretum signage around the West Lafayette campus, creating social media content, and maintaining accurate tree and shrub locations in the arboretum database. Madeleine helped complete projects that collaborated with different organizations and departments at Purdue and the city of West Lafayette. These projects include completing a tree inventory for the Diocese of Lafayette, creating a perennial plant tour for the Purdue Honors College, giving tours of Horticulture Park, and creating educational signage for a local neighborhood park.

PURDUE UNIVERSITY - TEACHING ASSISTANT

August 2017- December 2018

Madeleine was a teaching assistant for the course HORT 217: Woody Landscape plants taught during the fall semester. As a teaching assistant, Madeleine was responsible for collecting live samples of plants taught in the course, teaching an outdoor identification lab, proctoring identification quizzes and managing the online course module. During the Fall 2018 semester, Madeleine was given the position of head teaching assistant for the course, overseeing two other teaching assistants.

BALL HORTICULTURAL COMPANY - GARDENS INTERN

May 2018- August 2018

During the summer of 2018 Madeleine was selected as one of two garden interns at the main campus of the Ball Horticultural Company. During this time, her duties included assisting in installation of annual and perennial plant displays, maintaining annual and perennial plants in existing displays, identifying plants in the sustainable landscape areas, and proposing a new design for the main courtyard on the West Chicago campus.
